CAPAS, Tarlac – One of Philippine athletics’ most sacred records fell on Saturday morning during the heats of the 200-meters of the 30thSoutheast Asian Games at the New Clark City Track Stadium.
Fil-Am sprinter Kristina Knott, whose mother hails from Cavite, broke Lydia de Vega’s legendary 23.35 seconds mark she established in 1986 with a dazzling 23.07 job at the brand new venue, enabling her to book a spot during the evening finals.
Knott’s time was the best and only Vietnamese Le Thin Chin, who came close to matching her by coming up with a 23.61, making them the two to watch out for among the field of eight.
