Buying a gift for a special lass on your list can either be a cinch or the decision of the century.
If you already know what to get her, or she’s the type to drop not-so-subtle hints starting in October, lucky you: this list is either totally moot, a nice way to confirm you’re happy with what you’ve already bought, or a resource for stocking stuffer ideas.
And if not, well, it’s a good thing you’ve still got a couple of weeks to get it sorted. From the old millennial to the luxury lover, Rebecca Tay presents five stylish gift ideas for gals.
FOR THE MILLENNIAL
Anyone born in 1985 will likely know that it’s also the same year Club Monaco was first founded by Joe Mimran and Alfred Sung, two biggies in the Canadian fashion industry. If they’re older, well, they’ll appreciate the nostalgia of the brand’s new seven-piece Heritage Crest collection, which includes sweatpants, sweatshirts, and T-shirts; if they’re younger, it’ll feel very ‘80s and ‘90s on trend. Win-win for everyone.
Club Monaco, clubmonaco.com | $69.50 to $139.50
FOR THE FINE JEWELRY LOVER
Toronto-based Mejuri has been making waves in the fine jewelry industry since it launched in 2015 — think 400 per cent growth year-on-year and $ 38 million US raised in funding so far. And it makes sense: they offer understated, chic bangles, earrings and rings at prices sans the 8 to 10 times markup that other brands charge. They’re also transparent about where their products are made, and you can read about each factory on their website. Shopping for a woman in the know, who cares about where she shops, and where her pieces are made? This 14-karat gold bangle is the ultimate gift.
Mejuri, mejuri.com | $420
FOR THE SPORTY ONE
We’re not quite sure why no one thought of this before (and apologies if someone has and we didn’t know), but a puff scarf? Yes, please. We’ve often said that a sporty puffer coat doesn’t look quite right with a wool or knitted scarf, so have stuck to zipping ours up all the way and forgoing one altogether. Until we spied this one by Tna, which comes quilted and filled with responsibly sourced goose down and has a handy little slot on one side to loop the other side through. Can someone get us one?
Aritzia, aritzia.com | $78
FOR THE ONE WHO’S WORTH THE SPLURGE
This is a very serious splurge. It’s the stainless steel and 18-karat yellow gold Speedmaster 38mm by Omega, and the stunning hunter green hue was inspired by the pine forests of Switzerland. There are also two bezels — including one that’s diamond-encrusted — and an elegant, opaline dial. One for the very lucky giftee.
Omega, omegawatches.com | $11,600
FOR THE FASHIONISTA
What’s pink and fuzzy and soft all over? If that’s how you feel about her (or perhaps how she feels about you), then consider this Hampton coat by ‘it’ brand, Reformation. Not only is it ridiculously cute, but we love that it would look great with both party dresses and off-duty denim alike.
Reformation, thereformation.com | $380
