Eleazar pledges intensified drug war

NEWLY promoted Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar vowed to intensify the drug war during his promotion ceremony at Camp Crame on Thursday
Eleazar, the chief of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Directorial Staff, is seen as one of the candidates for the next PNP chief.
“Having seen the success of the President’s (Rodrigo Duterte) war against illegal drugs, I, in my personal and current official capacity shall intensify my efforts to win as many battles in this bloody war,” Eleazar said in his speech.
“Today, after decades of uncertainty, fear and terror, the Filipino is beginning to enjoy peace of mind, a priceless commodity, a constitutional right, a heavenly gift that has eluded us for a long, long time,” he added, stressing that he would also go after “narcocops” or police officers involved in the drug trade.
Eleazar is an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy’s Hinirang Class of 1987.
