Huang and four other envoys presented their credentials in MalacaƱang on Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2019).

“Your Excellency, we are proud that China and the Philippines are two great friends. And I welcome you to your new assignment. May it be productive. And I’m ready to accept your letter of credence,” Duterte said.

Huang told the President in part that “I will do every effort to promote China-Philippine relations which have — we have enjoyed very long history of friendship. And I wish Philippines enjoy prosperity and its people well-being. I wish your Excellency enjoy every success and good health.”

The envoy replaced Zhao Jianhua who became Beijing’s ambassador to Manila in 2014 at the height of a dispute between the Philippines and China in connection with overlapping claims in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).

Also on Wednesday, Ambassadors Grete Sillasen of the Kingdom of Denmark, Shobini Gunasekera of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Antonis Alexandridis of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), and U Lwin Oo of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar presented their credentials to the President.
