PAL eyes resumption of normal flight operations on Dec 5

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Airlines Inc. (PAL) hopes to resume its normal flight operations by Thursday, December 5.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna on Wednesday explained that the airline could not yet resume full operations within the day as it is still conducting flight recovery operations from its domestic and international outline stations.

On Wednesday, 10 international flights and 20 domestic flights of PAL remain canceled.

“Hindi po masasagawa ‘yung originally planned scheduled flights. Hindi rin ma-retime ito because of some concerns so dahil dito we canceled that already,” Villaluna said in an interview over dzMM.

“We’re hoping (to resume normal operations) tomorrow, December 5,” she added.

She explained, however, that the cancellation of some 30 flights is only a portion of their whole operations since the rest of PAL’s flights for Wednesday, which is averaged from 320 to 350 flights, would proceed as scheduled.

The PAL official also assured that their passengers are well informed of the cancellations.

On Tuesday, at the height of Typhoon Tisoy’s onslaught in vast areas of Luzon and Visayas, over 500 flights – both international and domestic – across all airlines were canceled. About 170 of these canceled flights were PAL.
