Typhoon strands 5,300 passengers

MORE than 5,300 passengers were stranded in various ports in Southern Tagalog, Bicol Region, and in Western and Eastern Visayas as Typhoon Tisoy threatened more than a dozen provinces, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard suspended travel from North Port Manila- St Francis de Xavier bound for Cebu, as well as trips from Caticlan to Roxas, Mindoro, Caticlan to Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro, and Batangas.
Boat operations from Caticlan to Sta Fe, Looc , and San Jose Romblon and vice versa were also cancelled.
“All PCG units ensure the strict implementation of the guidelines on the movement of vessels during heavy weather to ensure the safety of lives and properties at all costs,” the Coast Guard said in an advisory. RAFFY AYENG
