5 generals shortlisted for top Army position

The Armed Forces of the Philippines yesterday disclosed that five military generals were recommended by the Board of Generals to President Duterte to be the next commanding general of the more than 90,000-strong Philippine Army.
Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto, Army commanding general, is set to reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 for the military on Dec. 6.
Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesperson, said no announcement yet has been made on who will be the successor of Alberto.
