Free tickets for majority of SEA Games events

Philippine Southeast Asian Games Olympic Committee (PHISGOC) chairman and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano announced on Friday that tickets for majority of sporting events for the 30th SEA Games will be given out to the public for free.

Cayetano said the move is in compliance with President Duterte’s appeal to make SEA Games passes free for all to attract more crowd, primarily Filipinos who are eager to support our national athletes.

“The instructions of the President is to make sure that all Filipino who want to watch live and can be physically present sa games, the organizing committee has decided that all games na hindi pa sold out ‘yung tickets ay i-open at ilibre na,” he said.

Per his update, tickets for crowd-attracting events like basketball, volleyball, and football were already sold out.

But for those who want to avail of complementary general admission tickets in the first come, first serve basis for some sports and for the closing ceremony may obtain free passes through SM ticket outlets by over the counter transactions.

He said there were also allotted general admission tickets which will be distributed to some local government units (LGUs) that have jurisdiction over particular SEA Games venues like Manila, Pasay City, Pasig City, Muntinlupa City for Metro Manila cluster; Sta. Rosa and Biñan for Laguna cluster; Tagaytay for Cavite cluster; and Calatagan in Batangas Province.

Free tickets will also be distributed to public for specific venues like in Angeles City, Pampanga; San Fernando, Pampanga; San Juan, La Union; Subic, Zambales; and Capas in Tarlac where the New Clark City is located.
