Richmond police investigating two suspicious break-ins at same home

Richmond RCMP are investigating two suspicious break-ins that took place at the same home in the span of just over a week.
Police believe the home was targeted, and say the resident is known to police.
The first incident took place Nov. 18 just after 5:30 p.m. and began when two suspects approached a home in the 11000-block of Oldfield Drive. The men posed as Richmond city bylaw officers and allegedly pushed their way into the home and forced a woman down to the ground.
The woman was able to contact police but the suspects fled in a dark SUV before police arrived. Police have not been able to track down either suspect.
In the second incident on Nov. 27, police were called to the same home around 11 p.m. after neighbours heard the home’s alarm ringing. Police arrived to find suspects had broken into the home through the front door and fled with stolen property in what was later determined to be a stolen U-Haul van.
At this time, it is unknown if the suspects are the same in both incidents, though police believe the home was targeted.
Police are now releasing a description and sketch of a suspect from the Nov. 18 break-in. The man is described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s with a tan complexion and medium build. He had light-coloured eyes and is about 5-foot-10. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a hard hat and coveralls.
No description is available for the second man other than he was a man wearing a hard hat and coveralls, and no information has been released about suspects in the second break-in.
