Festival of Lights returns to Vancouver's VanDusen Botanical Garden

The beloved Festival of Lights is set to return to Vancouver’s VanDusen Botanical Garden beginning this weekend.
The event, now heading into its 35th year, is open to the public beginning Saturday and will see more than a million lights twinkling across six acres of the garden until Jan. 5.
Families visiting the festival can take in a Dancing Lights show on Livingstone Lake, relax by a fireside lounge, visit the Make-A-Wish candle grotto, snap selfies with Santa and enjoy a spin on a carousel.

This year’s event will also include several new additions, such as a chocolate fondue tent, hummingbird and owl sculptures and a pop-up Portobello West Winter Wonderland Market from Dec. 16 to 23.
Between Nov. 30 and Dec. 24, visitors can take a free photo with Santa and enjoy live musical performances in Santa’s lodge on select evenings.
Hungry for more than milk and cookies? Take your pick of several food trucks including Japadog, Cin City Donuts, Reel Mac and Cheese, Chickpea, and Potato Tornado or one of two restaurants on site.
Tickets are $14.25 to $19 and are available online at vandusenfestivaloflights.ca. A limited number of tickets are available online and at the gate each night so advance purchase is recommended.
Tickets also include free entry to Festival Tropicale, the holiday-themed overlay of the Bloedel Conservatory, running between Dec. 7 and Jan. 5.
