A 20-year lease ends and so it’s a sad goodbye to Toptable’s West restaurant. It closes on Dec. 31 after many illustrious years, awards and accolades. So chef Bobby Milheron, an understated but standout chef, has invited restaurant alumni to cook with him.

Former chef Quang Dang did a dinner on Nov. 27 and next up, it’s David Hawksworth, West’s opening chef, on Tuesday, Dec. 3. He’ll cook some of his signature dishes from over the seven years he helmed the West kitchen. Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased by calling restaurant director Owen Knowlton at 604-738-8938. (Proceeds go to benefit the Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarships.)

On Nov. 28, Colin MacDougall returns to join bar manager Stacey Ackerman and on Dec. 5, West alumni Sabrine Dhaliwal and Kevin Brownlee are guest bartenders for the night.

Toptable Restaurant Group, however, is on the move. They recently opened Oceans, a seafood restaurant in New York City. And next year, there’ll be an opening in Victoria under Kristian Eligh, and a second Thierry opens in Mount Pleasant, adding to Bar Oso, Il Caminetto, Blue Water Cafe, CinCin and Elisa.
