Substitute midfielder Dennis Chung’s last-minute goal brought the Philippine Azkals Under-22 football team to a 1-1 draw with Cambodia at the last minute of their opening match in the 30th Southeast Asian Games men’s football tournament on Monday night at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
Chung, who subbed for Dylan De Bruycker in the 86th minute, hit from close range during a scramble deep in the injury time, helping the young Azkals share the spoils with the Angkor Warriors in Group A.
Myanmar and Malaysia also fought to a 1-1 stalemate earlier, forging a four-way tie in the group that also includes Timor-Leste.
Nearly 3,000 fans watched the game.
