Mayweather ‘coming out of retirement’ in 2020, teases project with Dana white
MANILA, Philippines—Looks like Floyd Mayweather Jr. is planning a comeback.
“Coming out of retirement in 2020,” posted the undefeated Mayweather on his Instagram account Friday, teasing about a potential event with UFC.
If things push through, his wouldn’t be the first time that he worked with the MMA giant. He fought Conor McGregor, then the featherweight and lightweight UFC champion, in a boxing match in 2017.
Mayweather’s announcement came just an hour after he posted that he’s working with UFC president Dana White to “bring the world another spectacular event in 2020.”
This announcement isn’t new to Mayweather after he retired and came out of retirement several times over the first one in 2007 after he beat Ricky Hatton and the most recent in 2017 after defeating McGregor.
