Driver, conductor beat MMDA personnel along EDSA

A Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel was injured after a bus driver and his conductor beat him up along the EDSA Ortigas loading bay northbound on Friday morning.
In a message to reporters, MMDA spokesman Celine Pialago identified the victim as Arvin Gabay, a member of the agency’s sidewalk clearing operations group (SCOG).
The driver was identified as Rolly Sambayon and the conductor, Harold Reyes, both of Diamond Star Transport.
Pialago also said that Gabay was deployed as a force multiplier who monitored overstaying buses in loading and unloading areas along EDSA.
She said that Gabay flagged down Sambayon’s bus for overstaying and was surprised when the driver and conductor went down and beat him.
The incident was reported to MMDA at about 8:20 a.m., Pialago added.
Sambayon and Reyes are at the Quezon City Police Station 12 in Eastwood while Gabay was brought to The Medical City for treatment. JAN ARCILLA
