The union representing striking workers at Vancouver’s Rosewood Hotel Georgia says a tentative agreement has been reached in the two-month old labour dispute.
The 200 employees have been without a contract since last December.
Unite Here Local 40 announced on Twitter Sunday that a tentative deal has been reached, but no details were released.
We are happy to announce that a tentative agreement was reached between @UNITEHERE Local 40 & Hotel Georgia! More details to follow. Thank you to our amazing labour & community allies for your #solidarity! We have shown #Vancouver what working people can achieve. #bclab #vanpoli pic.twitter.com/X1N0qhpsGg
The agreement comes nearly a month after striking employees at four other high-end downtown hotels — the Hyatt Regency, Westin Bayshore, Pinnacle Harbourfront, and Four Seasons — ratified a new contract that gave them raises of up to 25 per cent, new safety standards and job security.
