ONE of the most difficult experiences a person can have is dealing with a major loss and struggling to go on living despite the pain. What did you lose lately? Are you still suffering because you lost something material or immaterial?

Tycoon John Gokongwei, Jr. had to start from scratch when his family lost their fortune and their so-called friends after his father’s death. That was many years before he was able to build big and successful businesses. Like him, you can let go and move on.

Remember the following when dealing with any kind of loss.

You are not your possession and you are not your relationship. Apart from a material possession or a person, your worth does not diminish. Be strong! You will never develop your full potential and you will never see all your options and blessings if you make something or someone your moon, your sun, your world. Everything is temporary. Life must go on!

Life still has so many things to offer. It does not end with your losses. The great inventor Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

Since everything is temporary, enjoy it while it’s there. Do what you love. Make time for it. Spend time with your loved ones. Create memories. No computer program or natural sign can tell us how much time is left.

God is in control. If it’s for you, the universe wil
