The B.C. Ministry of Transportation is reminding travellers about two significant traffic disruptions this weekend in Metro Vancouver.
On the Lions Gate Bridge, there will be single-lane alternating traffic from 8 p.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. on Sunday for joint and bearing repairs.
Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists. However, the ministry says drivers should expect delays and may want to consider an alternative route.
Also, there is a weekend detour set for 104 Avenue east of the Golden Ears Connector in Surrey.
The detour will be in effect for motorists destined for Barnston Island and Surrey Bend Park from 7 a.m. on Saturday until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
This detour will allow construction work to be completed at the Golden Ears connector/104 Avenue rail crossing.
Drivers will detour via 179th Street and Trigg Road and are advised to plan for extra time. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.
