“Thop Nazareno’s award-winning Cinemalaya 2019 film, Edward, will be competing at the 2019 Cairo International Film Festival under the International Panorama section!” Cinemalaya wrote.
This marks Edward’s first international premiere after it won the special jury prize at the 2019 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in August.
Starring Louise Abuel, the film tells the story of a young boy who is stuck in a public hospital to accompany his sick father.
Among films to be featured at the film festival are “A Thief’s Daughter” from Spain, “Balloon” from China, “Dawn Bhor” from India, and “Fiela’s Child” from South Africa.
The Cairo International Film Festival is happening from November 20 to 29, 2019, at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt.
