TYPHOON “Quiel” (international name: Nakri) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its 10 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau spotted the eye of “Quiel” at 145 kilometers north of Pagasa Island, Palawan, outside of PAR.
The typhoon sustained its strength as it left PAR with maximum winds of up to 129 kms per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
It is moving west at 15 km/h.
The weather bureau said the typhoon and the tail-end of a cold front would bring light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley.
Pagasa advised residents to take precautionary measures, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to floods and rain-induced landslides.
Quezon province, Rizal, and Bulacan will experience moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds within the next two hours, Pagasa warned.
Good weather is expected on Saturday for the rest of the country, with just isolated rains.
