TransLink will be offering free transit service to all veterans and active service members on Remembrance Day.
Free transit on Nov. 11 will be extended to veterans and current members of the Canadian Armed Forces, police officers, firefighters, Canadian Coast Guard officers, B.C. Ambulance paramedics, and Department of Fisheries and Oceans officers.
One accessible fare gate will be left open at all SeaBus and SkyTrain stations to accommodate them.
Along with the free rides, the transit authority is partnering with the Royal Canadian Legion to help spread poppies throughout Metro Vancouver.
Legion members are giving out poppies by donation at transit hubs across the region including Waterfront Station, Commercial-Broadway Station, Surrey Central Station, Lougheed Town Centre Station and Broadway-City Hall Station
The Legion’s annual poppy sale helps provide financial assistance to veterans in need.
