Burns Lake RCMP is investigating a claim that a needle was found hidden in a piece of candy handed to a child on Halloween night.
A parent reported finding the needle Saturday while checking their child’s candy haul.
Police haven’t been able to isolate where the tampered candy may have come from because the young trick-or-treater had been to several neighbourhoods on Halloween.
Burns Lake is a village of 1,932 people in B.C.’s north-central Interior. There have been no other reports of tainted Halloween treats found in the community.
“You should have an adult inspect your candy before eating it and to only eat things that are in unopened wrappers,” said Burns Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Shaunna Lewis.
