IF Vice President Leni Robredo accepts the challenge of President Digong to become the country’s drug czar, she should ask the President to give her complete control over the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The next PNP chief she would choose — if she were to have complete control over the police organization — should be a strict disciplinarian and like Caesar’s wife.
She will have to ask the President to give her total supervision over the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA).
Robredo could then order the PNP and PDEA to wage a “take no prisoner” campaign against drug lords, drug traffickers and pushers.
She should ask that the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) be under her so she can order BuCor Director Gerald Bantag to secretly execute the Chinese drug convicts at New Bilibid Prison (NBP) who continue to lord it over the illegal drugs traffic outside the walls of the NBP.
Robredo would have to give a free hand to the officials of the PNP, PDEA, DILG and BuCor to accomplish their mission of eradicating the drug lords and traffickers from the face of the earth.
Without the prerequisites mentioned above, Vice President Leni will never succeed in stopping the drug traffic.
If Digong Duterte — with all the powers of the commander in chief and who has given the agencies a free hand — has not completely stopped the illegal drug traffic, how can Leni Robredo do the opposite?
If Robredo will continue to listen to the dictates of the nosy international community and bleeding hearts, as she and her ilk do now, how could she succeed?
The point I’m driving at is it’s easy for a backseat driver to see the wrong turns of the one in control of the wheel, in the same way that the miron (onlooker) in a chess game sees the wrong moves of the chess players.
But let the same backseat driver or miron take control and he or she will be in the same situation as the one that they criticize.
And to the other members of the opposition or the Yellows, you have had your time to check the illegal drug traffic during the time of Noynoy abnoy kuyakoy as president and you botched it.
In fact, the drug traffic worsened during Noynoy’s time and yet the Yellows had the nerve to blame Digong for their mistake!
Shame on you!

Social media, especially Facebook and Twitter, are the principal sources of fake news.
But they are also sources of some gems of wisdom and terrific humor.
I came across this gem from Facebook whose author is unknown but which was forwarded to me by Zambales Gov. Jun Ebdane:
“Here is a comment from a psychologist regarding the sorry state of the Philippines:
“The difference between the poor and rich nations is not the age of the nation.
“This can be demonstrated by countries like India and Egypt which are more than 2,000 years old but are still poor countries.
“On the other hand, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which 150 years ago were insignificant, today are developed and rich countries.
“The difference between the poor and rich nations does not also depend on the available natural resources.
“Japan has a limited territory, 80 percent of which is mountainous and unsuitable for agriculture or farming, yet is the world’s second most prosperous economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw materials from the rest of the world and exporting them as manufactured products.
“Second example is Switzerland. It does not grow cocoa but produces the best chocolates in the world. In her small territory, she rears animals and cultivates land only for four months in a year; nevertheless, Switzerland manufactures the best milk products. A small country which is an image of security which has made it the strongest world bank.
“Executives from rich countries who interact with their counterparts from poor countries show no significant intellectual differences.
“The racial or color factor does not evince importance: migrants heavy in laziness in their country of origin (take note of this my fellow Filipinos — RT) are forcefully productive in rich European countries.
“What then is the difference?
“The difference is the attitude of the people, molded for many years by education and culture.
“When we analyze the conduct of the people from the rich and developed countries, the majority abide by the following principles of life:
l. Ethics as basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility
4. Respect for laws and regulations.
5. The respect from majority of the citizenry by right.
6. The effort to save and invest.
7. The will to be productive.
8. Punctuality.
“In the poor countries, a small minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.
“We are not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us.
“We are poor because we lack attitude. We lack the will to follow and teach these principles of working in rich and developed countries.
“We are in this sorry state because we want to take advantage of everything and everyone.
“We are in this sorry state because we see something done wrong but we just shrug our shoulders and say, “let it be.”
“If you love your country, circulate this message so that as many Filipinos can reflect on it.”

And here’s another piece, an outrageously funny one, I picked up on social media:
“A cabbie picks up a nun. As she gets into a cab, she notices that the very handsome cab driver would not stop staring at her. She asks him why he was staring.
“He replies: ‘I have a question to ask, but you might be offended.’
“The nun answers, ‘My son, you can never offend me. When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.’
“‘Well, I’ve always had the fantasy to have a nun kiss me,’ says the driver.
“She responds, ‘Well, let’s see what we can do about that. You have to be single and Catholic.’
“Excited, the driver says, ‘Yes, I’m single and Catholic!’
“‘Okay, pull over into the next alley,’ the nun says.
“The nun fulfills his fantasy with a kiss that would make a hooker blush.
“But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.
“‘My dear child,’ says the nun, ‘why are you crying?’
“‘Forgive me, but I’ve sinned. I lied and I must confess. I’m married and Jewish.’
“‘That’s okay. My name is Kevin and I’m going to a Halloween party.”
