Two charged in 2018 Surrey killing

Two men has been charged in the murder of Surrey man Lakhwinder Singh Bal in August, 2018.
On Tuesday night, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team issued a statement that Daljeet Biring and Gurmail Biring had been charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of 48-year-old Bal in an alley adjacent to the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot at Prince Charles Boulevard and 96th Avenue in Surrey.
Bal was found unconscious at around 9 p.m. and was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Biring and Biring were arrested by on Oct. 25 by members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and later charged by the B.C. Prosecution Service with second degree murder.
Police believe the killing was not gang-related and the victim and his alleged attackers were known to each other.
Both accused men appeared before a judge in B.C. Provincial Court on October 28, 2019.
