The City of Vancouver will host a series of community meetings and “pop-up” events in a bid to explain to residents the impact of the planned Broadway subway project.
The events will be held between Oct. 30 and Nov. 7.
The public meetings are Oct. 30 (Kits Neighbourhood House 4 p.m.), Nov. 2 (511 West Broadway at 11 a.m.) and Nov. 7 (Emily Carr University at 4 p.m.).
Pop-ups are being hosted on Nov. 4 (corner of Broadway and Main at 4 p.m.), Nov. 5 (Broadway and Granville at 4 p.m.) and Nov. 6 (East Mall and University Boulevard at noon and Commercial/Broadway Station at 4 p.m.)
The Broadway subway project is budgeted to cost $2.8 billion and is a 5.7-kilometre extension of the Millennium Line. It will run beneath Broadway and have underground stations on Great Northern Way, Main Street, Cambie Street, Granville Street and Arbutus Street, where it ends.
Early work on the project has been underway since the start of the year, however construction work isn’t expected to begin until next year. The project should be complete by 2025.
