Police suspect medical distress may have led to a single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Vancouver man on Monday night in Marpole

The 59-year-old driver died after his vehicle left the road and collided with a street lamp post on North Kent Avenue around 8:45 p.m.

Vancouver police responded, along with B.C. Ambulance and Vancouver Fire Rescue Services.

The driver died at the scene.

The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the crash, but police believe medical distress may have been a factor.

It was the city’s 11th motor vehicle fatality of 2019.
