A low pressure area (LPA) in the Visayas that is affecting most parts of the country is expected to leave the country on Tuesday , the weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) last spotted the LPA 150 km west southwest of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

It triggered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa (Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), the Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz said the LPA may traverse the Palawan land mass later on Monday. She said it could intensify into a tropical depression after leaving the country. DIVINA NOVA JOY DELA CRUZ
