Bollinger Electric SUV & Pickup Prices Announced

Prices for the all electric SUV and pickup truck from Bollinger have been announced. Choosing between them won’t be a decision based on cost, as both list for $125,000. For that, you get a Class C truck with a 125 kWh battery and around 200 miles | 321 km of range. Both feature dual motors, 614 horsepower, and 669 pound-feet of torque. They also have ten 110 volt AC outlets scattered about. 240 volt outlets are available as an optional upgrade. According to AutoBlog, the vehicles can be recharged to 100% capacity in 10 hours using a Level 2 charger or 75 minutes if a DC fast charger is available.

Both vehicles have the styling grace of a railroad locomotive and offer serious off-road capability with in-wheel portal gear hubs, 15 inches of ground clearance and a self-leveling, hydro-pneumatic suspension that allows the driver to adjust the ride height. The front and rear differentials can be locked electronically, while a two-speed gear box offers off-road grunt or highway cruising.
The interior components are completely sealed, so the interior can be cleaned out with a fire hose if necessary. It also means the trucks can ford streams up to 36 inches | 91 cm deep. Don’t try that with your Tesla Model X, amigos! The underside is protected by a carbon fiber and Kevlar shield that laughs at boulders, logs, and whatever other obstacles may be encountered while stomping around out where no roads exist.
Other specs for these beasts include a 5,000 pound | 2268 kg payload and a reconfigurable interior that allows items as long as 16 feet | 4.87 meters to be carried inside the B2 pickup with the tailgate closed, utilizing the pass-through in the firewall into the forward cargo compartment. The shorter B1 SUV can handle items up to 13 feet | 3.96 meters long. The load bed in the pickup starts at 5 feet 9 inches | 175 cm but can be extended to 8 feet 2 inches | 249 cm with the cab wall and rear seats removed.
Both have removable doors, windows, rear glass, and roof panels for unparalleled access to the interior. They are definitely not your grandfather’s Chevy Avalanche. All four seats are heated and can be upholstered in cloth, leather, or vegan leather. The floor strips are made from wood reclaimed from an old Buick factory and salvaged church pews. An 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Bluetooth connectivity completes the interior appointments.
The Bollinger twins will be assembled mostly by hand, with production beginning in 2020, and they will be sold through independent dealers. “We’re going to production with all of the components and features that our team developed from the start; we’re staying true to our DNA” said Bollinger Motors founder and CEO Robert Bollinger. “Our trucks deliver a level of performance unlike anything on the market or coming to market.” The company has begun taking $1,000 refundable deposits at its website.
Is there a place for Bollinger trucks at $125,000 a pop? Probably. There really is nothing else in the automotive universe quite like what the company is offering. The closest thing may be a good used Hummer H1 if you can find one. If you have to have the latest and greatest off-road vehicle that can laugh at whatever challenges you care to throw at it, the B1 and B2 are really the only game in town.
