“Power. Anything. Anywhere.” That’s the motto of Goal Zero, a company dedicated to helping people power their lives with zero emissions electricity. The company’s products include battery backup systems that can replace conventional generators and portable solar panels to keep them charged up.
In a 24/7 connected world, how do you take all your digital stuff with you when you leave home to explore the great outdoors? The new Yeti 200X portable power supply from Goal Zero is small enough and light enough to go with you wherever your adventures take you.
Measuring 7.9 x 5.1 x 5.1 inches and weighing just 5 pounds, the Yeti 200X holds 187 watt-hours of power. No matter what devices you need to run, they can connect to the 200X thanks to its multitude of outlet ports — USB-A, USB-C, USB-C PD, 12 volt auxiliary plug, 6 mm or AC outlets. The battery also features a 120-watt AC inverter as well as 200 watt surge protection.
The Yeti 200X is perfect for lights, camera equipment, laptops, phones, 12V fridges, and USB-C devices. It can power a light for up to 180 hours, a tablet for 6 hours, a laptop for more than 4 hours, and a TV for up to two hours. Once charged, it will stay ready to supply power for up to 8 months.
“Whether you’re away from home on an adventure or going through an emergency, having power when and where you need it is crucial,” said Bill Harmon, general manager of Goal Zero tells CleanTechnica in an e-mail. “We designed the Yeti 200X to be light, compact, on-the-go power so our customers never have to worry about running out of batteries wherever they go.” He calls it “the perfect adventure companion from door to destination and back again.”
The lithium-ion battery in the 200X can be recharged in as little as 4 hours from a conventional wall outlet. It can also be recharged using one of Goal Zero’s portable solar panel options for those who want to go off grid for extended periods of times. The 200X sells for $299.00 and is available at REI stores or online at the Goal Zero website.
Goal Zero is also supplying one of its solar panels for use with the new Hyundai Veloster Turbo Grappler concept, an off-road version of its popular Veloster sports coupe. The Grappler will be featured at the next SEMA show that kicks off November 5 in Las Vegas. While Hyundai has no plans to put the concept into production, its selection of Goal Zero to supply the solar panel attests to the company’s reputation for rugged, high quality products for those who want to escape the ordinary without leaving their digital devices behind.
