Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate the suspicious death of a man in his late 50s in Richmond Friday evening.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says at around 5:30 p.m., Richmond Mounties were called to the 8200-block of Granville Avenue after a man was found dead inside a business.

The responding officers deemed the death to be suspicious, and IHIT was called in to take over the case.

IHIT will investigate with the Richmond RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service.

IHIT spokesman Sgt. Frank Jang says the man’s death does not appear to be a random act. Police have not said whether they have a suspect, nor have they identified a possible motive.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477.)
