Blazers — the more casual version of tailored suit coats that have been repurposed for, well, everyone — are a must-try this sartorial season.
The timeless toppers, which come in a variety of lengths, materials and boasting varying accoutrements (think wide lapels versus thin, double-breasted vs. single, buttons vs. none) are an effortless way to add an elevated style statement to any ensemble.
With this versatility in mind, we’ve rounded up three blazers that caught our eye this week:
Bold buttons
The ‘basic’ blazer gets a bold update thanks to uniquely placed gold buttons on this Asymmetric Wrap Blazer from the Canadian brand Smythe. The line, which is a favourite of celebrities and Royalty alike, (Kate Middleton made one of the brand’s designs famous, prompting the design to be renamed The Duchess Blazer), is built upon an outerwear base that’s boasts many standout blazer styles. This inky-black design is sure to pair perfectly with workwear, casual clothes and, even, more formal attire.

Simply chic
This may just be the ‘It’ blazer of the season. While, at first glance, the simple style looks, well, too simple to be eligible for said status, once it’s on, you’ll see what makes it so great. The fit is sleek yet oversized — boasting a menswear-inspired fit that feels very current. We’re daydreaming of wearing it with maxi dresses, turtlenecks and blue jeans, a satin skirt … the list goes on. Prepare to want to wear it on repeat.

Perfect plaid
Double-breasted design? Check. A little extra length? Check. A bold plaid print? Again, check. This blazer from Zara meets more than enough of the style criteria of the season in order to justify stopping in-store to try it on or heading online to do some extra investigation.
