Yulo, Petecio to get P1 M each from PSC

Carlos Yulo and boxer Nesthy Petecio stand to receive P1 million each as cash incentives from the government following their world championship feats over the weekend.
Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez announced this yesterday after Yulo became the first Filipino to win a gold medal at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday while Petecio became the second Filipino to win in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Ulan-Ude, Russia on Sunday.
Under Republic Act 10699 known as the “Expanded Incentives Act”, gold medalists will receive P500,000 for “qualifying competitions for world-level games” and P1 million for “world-level competitions held at least every two years with at least 45 countries participating.”
In Yulo’s case, he will get P500,000 for his golden performance in floor exercise of the annual world tournament.
Petecio, for her part, will pocket P1 million after capturing the featherweight gold in the biennial world event she had participated.
