Man killed in altercation next to Surrey gas station

Homicide police are investigating an incident that left a 47-year-old man dead early Saturday morning in Surrey.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team say the man was killed during an altercation that occurred around 4:40 a.m. in the 18300-block of Fraser Highway.
The incident occurred in front of an empty storefront next to a Husky service station at the corner of Fraser Highway and 184th Street.

The man died at the scene, despite receiving CPR from paramedics.
The area was cordoned off by police tape early Saturday. Witnesses reported seeing a body covered by a tarp in the parking lot.
One man was arrested, and police say he remains in custody.
Police do not believe the incident was gang-related.
“We believe the two men knew each other and there is no further risk to public safety,” IHIT said.
