A Langley man has pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in a double homicide two years ago in Langley.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Travis MacPhail pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Brandy Petrie, 34, and Avery Levely-Flescher, 20, on Sept. 1, 2017.
Just after 5:30 a.m. Langley RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at 232nd Street and 64th Avenue in Langley. Police found a man and woman inside a vehicle suffering gunshot wounds. Neither survived.
Police said at the time that it was a targeted shooting.
MacPhail, who was 21 at the time, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder along with additional charges of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, uttering threats and aggravated sexual assault. The sexual assault charge wasn’t linked to the shooting victims, according to IHIT.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 2020.
Petrie was a model from Burnaby who formerly lived in Ottawa. Levely-Flescher had worked on a dial-a-dope line and had a criminal record. Police said MacPhail was known to police but didn’t have a criminal record.
