Kat von D Beauty

True Portrait Lightweight Medium Coverage Foundation

They say: A “lightweight, medium-coverage, liquid-to-powder” foundation that features a vegan-friendly formula and an “airy-matte” finish that won’t clog pores. Available in 40 shades.

We say: This formula works like magic. No, really. The squeeze bottle made dispensing the perfect amount super easy (only a few drops are needed for full-face coverage). Applied with a brush, the formula turned to an instant matte, slightly powdery finish that wore comfortably on skin and blurred imperfections.

Boscia

Cactus Water Moisturizer

They say: A facial moisturizer that gives “thirsty skin a sip of hydration courtesy of The Queen of Night Cactus.” The lightweight formula aims to leave skin soft, smooth and supple.

We say: Our tester, who battles with oil-prone skin, was pleased with the hydrating prowess of this potion. The formula absorbs well, leaving a slightly tacky finish. This point prompted her to use it primarily as an overnight treatment, which yielded soft, hydrated skin come morning time.

John Freida

Frizz Ease Dream Curls Mousse

They say: A frizz-taming hair mousse from the brand John Freida that is infused with Abyssinian oil to tame curls and keep them looking sleek.

We say: Our tester used this on her short, extra-curly coif. The product dispensed easily, had a clean scent and applied easily to freshly washed strands. Once hair was dry, hair felt soft, smooth and not sticky or weighed down — with much less frizz.
