A known critic of the Duterte administration has died in Spain, his wife said in a post on Facebook. He was 46.
Carlos Celdran, a tour guide in Intramuros, Manila, died of “natural causes,” his wife, Tessa, said on Tuesday.
Celdran’s wife said the family was arranging to have her husband’s body brought home from Madrid to the Philippines. No other details are available as of posting time.
Celdran, who flashed the “Damaso” sign during a mass at the Manila Cathedral in 2010, was convicted in 2013.
He was scheduled in October to have tours in Madrid, tracing the footsteps of Jose Rizal.
The former tour guide had been living in Spain since December last year.
