Tony Mabesa, Amalia Fuentes take final bow

VETERAN actress Amalia Fuentes passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday morning.
The news was confirmed by her grandchildren, Alfonso, Alissa, and Alyanna in their posts on social media.
“It is with great sadness that I, together with my siblings Alyanna and Alissa, inform you that our Grandmother, Amalia Amador Muhlach has taken her last breath this morning in the Philippines. She is now reunited with her husband Joey Stevens, our mother Anna-Lissa Martinez and her ex-husband, our Lolo Bobby. We have prayed for nothing but peace for her and now she can finally rest. Our family only asks that you respect our privacy during this time and join us in praying for her soul,” Alfonso wrote on his Facebook post.
Alyanna and Alissa posted on their Instagram account showing a picture of young Amalia with their late mother Liezl.
Albert Martinez also posted a photo of his late wife Liezl with Amalia, with a caption: “Amalia Fuentes 1940 – 2019 Rest In Peace.”
In a report from GMA News, Amalia died in her home in New Manila, Quezon City, she had been bedridden for the past two years and was being cared for by a nurse and caregiver.
In her showbiz career, Amalia starred in “Ibulong Mo sa Hangin” (1966) and “Pag-ibig Mo Buhay Ko” (1973) for which she won Best Actress awards from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) and Manila Film Festival.
Amalia was widely regarded as the “Elizabeth Taylor of the Philippines.”

Veteran actor, director, and theater artist Antonio “Tony” Mabesa died on Friday, October 4. He was 84 years old.
“We, the family of Antonio Mabesa, are saddened to announce his passing. Sir Tony joined his creator at 10:20 this evening. He was surrounded by family and friends. Details of the wake will be announced tomorrow. We thank you for your prayers. We hope you can respect the family’s wish for privacy at this time,” according to a family statement shared by screenwriter Floy Quintos.
