Make amends before retiring, Lacson urges Albayalde

Sen. Panfilo Lacson yesterday urged Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Oscar Albayalde to finish the reinvestigation he plans to conduct on the 13 police officers who were involved in the recycling of illegal drugs they confiscated in an anti-narcotics operation in Mexico, Pampanga in 2013 before he retires in November.

This way, Lacson said Albayalde can remove perceptions that he was the protector of these alleged “ninja cops” and that he did not cover up the grave misconduct committed by his subordinates.

The Senate has cited in contempt Police Major Rodney Baloyo, the leader of the ninja cops for lying about the details of their Nov. 29, 2013 anti-drug raid and had him detained at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

“The remaining 34 days is not too long to make amends. Ang unang dapat ipakita niya para mawala ang duda na ang kaso ni Baloyo ay meron siyang kinalaman sa pagtakip man lang,” Lacson said.

“Dapat kung pwedeng itong remaining 30-plus days ipakita niyang mabilis maresolba ang reinvestigation na sinasagawa,” he stressed.
