A B.C. woman was identified this week as the victim found dead in a submerged car in Blaine, Wash.
The Blaine Police Department said Canadian Eleanor Lenzner, 87, had crossed into the U.S. over the weekend but likely become disoriented and confused while navigating through Blaine and drove down a boat launch, the Bellingham Herald reported.
Sgt. Michael Munden said Lenzner and her car were discovered submerged in Drayton Harbour when two boaters tried to launch their boat on Sunday morning around 7 a.m.
Search and rescue crews were called in to help pull the car and the body from the water, where it had sunk about 10 feet.
It’s believed Lenzner had gone off the boat launch at low tide and was unable to get out of the water. Officials are treating the death as an accident.
