Surrey residents are being warned about bandits who are targeting people using the buying-and-selling app LetGo.

Surrey RCMP say they’re investigating four separate robberies involving LetGo. In each of the incidents, the victims were robbed while meeting to buy a cellphone from someone advertising on the app.

Police say the two male robbery suspects were both described as being teenagers.

When arranging meetings with unknown online parties, the RCMP suggests you insist on meeting in a public place, like a cafe or shopping centre, during daylight hours. They also suggest you bring a friend or cellphone with you and let friends and family know where and when you’re meeting the buyer/seller.

Police say never meet in a secluded area or invite anyone into your house, and be especially careful when buying or selling high-value items.
