If you’re a CleanTechnica reader, we probably don’t have to tell you who Greta Thunberg is. Heck, unless you’ve been living under a rock, the same is probably true!

One of the very interesting things about Greta’s climate activism is that she walks the walk. She doesn’t do air travel, even for trips that cross oceans. Most recently, she made headlines for a speech at the United Nations in New York, but despite being from Europe, she didn’t get there by plane. People helped her get across the ocean by sailboat to help her keep her climate impacts as low as possible.

However, once in the United States, how can she get around while keeping her impacts low to avoid accusations of hypocrisy? That’s where another person we don’t need to introduce comes in: Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This week’s news isn’t the first time “Arnie” has come out in support of Greta. Back in May, he was proud to tell all of his Twitter followers about meeting her in Vienna, and the international movie star even admitted to being “starstruck” meeting the young climate activist.

When you can count Arnold Schwarzenegger among your fans, you’ve definitely achieved high levels of public recognition!

Various outlets are reporting that the “Governator” initially wanted to lend her his personal electric-converted Hummer to get around in, but couldn’t get the vehicle across the country on short notice. Being seen lending her the vehicle wasn’t the point, though, so he did the next best thing: arranged to make sure she has a Tesla Model 3 for the duration of her trip through North America.

Schwarzenegger walks the walk on climate change himself, not only with his own electric vehicles, but with electric bikes and other forms of clean transit. It’s great to see one important figure in the fight against climate change reach out to help another.
