A total of one hundred Tesla owners took part in this meetup, while all driving on Autopilot. That set a new world record. The previous world record was 55.

According to their Facebook page, the goal was a Super Long Autopilot Dragon event and to challenge the world record. This was their way of announcing the unity of Taiwan’s friendship with the Tesla community to the whole world. Not only did they meet their goal, but they did something phenomenal. They managed to land Tesla in the news in a positive way!
Many US news reports about Tesla are negative, and the same goes for stories about Elon Musk — often portrayed with photos of him looking stressed, anxious, or upset. In the case of Taiwan, this was different. This was a show of unity, love for a brand, and something positive as they all used Autopilot to drive safely.
This was a marketing strategy to promote their love for Tesla — a strategy that they were not paid to do, but did so anyway because of their love of the product and company — and it made the news.
The Tesla community is a group of people from all over the world who love Tesla, own Teslas, own stock in Tesla, or are fans — or all of the above. Many have come together in Facebook groups, on Twitter, on Reddit, and on YouTube, and love sharing their love for Tesla. Despite all the negative headlines, Tesla’s community has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. This is an international community that cannot and will not be ignored.

Here in the US, many of the mainstream media outlets mock Elon Musk and Tesla. They use negative and misleading headlines in hopes that their articles will gain clicks. They focus on the parts of the story that will emotionally manipulate the reader and influence their opinion of Tesla.
It is refreshing to see what the Tesla Owners of Taiwan have done. They made a huge impact. All due to how much Tesla has inspired them.
Tesla will definitely go down in history not just as a game-changer for the auto and energy industries, but also as a subject of study for those in marketing. The goal of any business is to create a product that their customers will love. Tesla has certainly done this — and without advertising. In fact, what the Tesla Owners Club of Taiwan has done is just one of many examples of why Tesla doesn’t need to pay for advertising. The Tesla meetup in Taiwan is just another unique example of how hundreds of thousands of people love their cars enough to advertise them for Tesla.
