‘Onyok’ to intensify into a typhoon—Pagasa

Tropical storm “Onyok” (international name: Mitag) has intensified into a severe tropical storm, the weather bureau said on Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted “Onyok” at 500 kilometers (km) east of Tuguegarao City at 11 a.m.
It had maximum sustained winds of up to 125 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
“Onyok” is unlikely to make landfall but it is expected to intensify into a typhoon within 24 hours. GLEE JALEA
