When Aimee Song talks about fashion, people listen.
The Los Angeles-based fashion blogger, designer and New York Times bestselling author regularly shares her latest style and beauty finds on her website, Songofstyle.com, and social accounts, where her more than 5.3 million followers on Instagram and more than 339,000 subscribers on YouTube follow her every move, outfit post, handbag selection, makeup look, skincare obsession and, well, you get the idea.
It’s this level of influence that undoubtedly prompted Holt Renfrew to tap Song for a recent style discussion in Vancouver, where she joined The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark to pinpoint her favourite fashion moments of the fall/winter 2019 season. With a crowd of fans and followers looking on, here were four of Song’s top picks and points from the fashion event.
“For me, because I do travel so much, I love a good neutral outfit because you can always mix and match. For this season, I feel like we’re seeing a lot of neutrals in different materials — luxe materials.”
“I love a pair of good snakeskin boots. Over the knee or to-the-knee snakeskin boots. Or python patterns.”
“A Bottega (Veneta)-esque clutch. Everyone is obsessed with The Pouch bag. I think it literally transforms any outfit. I’m also obsessed with square-toed boots. Also, an oversized blazer. I always size up when it comes to blazers …”
“(Cream blush) is so easy. I have a cream blush on right now. For someone like me who travels a lot and always carries a tiny bag, I don’t have the capacity to carry a blush, and a brush and a separate mirror. A cheek tint or a cream blush, you can easily put it on your face and then on your lips for some glow. And that’s like my favourite thing to do.”
