Man behind restaurant explosion in Manila nabbed

THE lone suspect in a grenade throwing incident at a restaurant in Manila was arrested on Wednesday, police said.
Major General Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, identified the suspect as Luis Cariño, 38, a construction worker.
Based on the initial report, Cariño ignored a checkpoint along Mindanao Extension corner Regalado Avenue in Barangay Greater Lagro, resulting in a chase that led to his arrest.
Confiscated from his bag were a hand grenade and a sachet of shabu.
He later admitted to the police that he was responsible for the explosion in front of C-Foods Resto along 5th Street corner Concepcion Aguila St., Barangay 638 in San Miguel, Manila on September 14.
Cases for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9516 (Unlawful Possession of Explosives), Section 11 Article 2 of RA 9165 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) Article 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to an Agent of Person in Authority) of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) will be filed against Cariño. DARWIN PESCO
