NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Guillermo Eleazar bared on Tuesday that seven of his men had links to an alleged “drug queen” in Manila.
In a press conference, Eleazar said of the seven, the highest ranking policeman involved was a chief master sergeant, five were patrolmen while one remained unidentified.
The alleged “drug queen” was identified as a baragay chairman in Sampaloc.
Eleazar backed the claim of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino that the “drug queen” has collected billions of pesos worth of illegal drugs by buying those confiscated from police operations.
Eleazar said his information was based on NCRPO intelligence in coordination with PDEA.
“Meron talaga ito nakita kasi natin dito itong target personality here is mag asawa isang incumbent barangay chairwoman tapos yung asawa niya dating barangay chairman tapos may pinsan siya na kagawad,” Eleazar said, showing a drug matrix, which revealed that the drug queen has a brother who was a policeman.
(The target personality is a barangay chairman whose husband used to be barangay chairman and she has a cousin who is a councilor.)
Eleazar said the recycling of illegal drugs may have been ongoing even before Rodrigo Duterte became president.
The same matrix showed that nine of the erring policemen, also known as “ninja cops”, were killed in operations, two were retired, two dismissed, two were on AWOL and one was detained.
In an interview with the reporters on September 19, Aquino said that the “drug queen” would be caught soon.
Aquino told a recent Senate hearing that the problem of recycling illegal drugs was rampant despite Duterte’s ongoing campaign. DARWIN PESCO
