DoJ: 1,025 released convicts surrender

There are now over a thousand convicts who surrendered following their release because of good conduct time allowance (GCTA), said Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete on Thursday.

Perete said there are 1,025 surrenderers based on the latest figures he received at 2 p.m., Wednesday.

After the September 19 deadline for their surrender ends, Perete said the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will receive an updated list.

“The list will contain a number of details of those PDLs prematurely released via GCTA, their offense, their last known address and also their picture to minimize mistaken identity in the course of the arrest,” the Department of Justice (DoJ) spokesman said.

“The name of the surrenderers will not be included in the updated list,” he added.
