Tesla’s Leadership At Nürburgring Is A Win For Everyone

If you are a lover of all things auto, you should celebrate Tesla’s leadership on the Nürburgring track, and I am going to explain why I think this to be so.

September 16th, Tesla Plaid Model S finished the Nürburgring in a hand stopped 7:23 minutes.
Which is 20 sec faster than Porsche Taycan.

As soon as the Porsche Taycan launched, many Tesla critics hailed it as the ultimate Tesla killer and started praising Porsche for finally making an electric vehicle. The Taycan put in an impressive time at the Nürburgring, which got some attention for doing better than any previous Tesla. Then Elon tweeted.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk indicated that Tesla would soon bring a Model S to the Nürburgring track to attempt a faster time. He, unfortunately for those who always accuse him of lying, kept his word on that. Despite all of the negative media headlines, it seems Tesla is set to easily win the matchup.

Anyone who loves cars and autos will know the hottest makes and models. Increasingly, they will also know that electric vehicles are here to stay. Seeing an electric vehicle race another one in a highly publicized manner is not only a big deal for Tesla, but also a huge win for both the electric vehicle industry and, thus, the world as a whole.
In 2018, The Independent posted an article with the headline, “Latest F1 global viewing figures reveal 1.3bn watched first 15 races with Monaco GP’s audience growth.” That is 1.3 billion people who watched Formula One’s global television. Racing cars isn’t a new thing, yet the perception of electric vehicles will change as Tesla and others compete against one another on a global stage.
Tesla’s press and strong performance at Nürburgring is a good thing for Tesla’s mission, which is all about helping us embrace sustainable energy. This is also a great way to market a product without paying for conventional ad space, Twitter ads, Facebook ads, etc., which all other car companies use.
After much taunting from auto blogs and other automakers, Tesla has finally taken the bait that is being continually waved in its face (okay, smeared all over its nose). The company has gracefully (for the most part) gone about its business and kept pumping out record numbers of cars. While auto blogs were mocking Elon Musk, he made history with the Starhopper. While we had reporters talking about empty mud fields and rolling their eyes, China’s Gigafactory 3 was not only getting built, but Elon Musk and Tesla went over to China despite the US trade war and got China’s approval for the only completely foreign-owned factory, and proceed to rapidly develop the ability to make and sell cars to Chinese citizens. But it’s perhaps time to speak out about the nonsense and remind critics of the many false claims they confidently made this year.

Importantly, every win that Tesla has won wasn’t just for Tesla, but for all of us. Every single one of Tesla’s wins is for anyone who loves cars, hates cars, has a car, wants a car, doesn’t want a car — it’s for all of us, because it’s not about Tesla and not even about cars. It’s not about the faster car, the sexiest wheels, or the shiniest wax job. It’s about what you and I need. We need fresh air. We need to find a way to use energy sustainably. We need to make sure that when we die (it’s inevitable) our children won’t inherit irreversible screwups. This is what Tesla is all about, and this is why every time Tesla wins, you win.
