Bordeaux or don’t, the choice is yours.
B.C. Liquor Stores are gearing up for the annual Bordeaux wine release, happening later this month on Sept. 28.
Grapes used in this year’s Bordeaux were harvested in 2016, a drawn-out season that resulted in “wines with concentration and power … but with the incredible depth of flavour that comes with slow-ripening.”
“The 2016 vintage offers top quality across the range from the famous châteaux in the Médoc appellations through the petits châteaux of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur AOC,” said Barb Philip, master of wines and BCLS’s category manager.
“The fruit is ripe and powerful but balanced by great finesse.”
In previous years, wine fans have camped out at BCLS locations in order to snag a bottle of Bordeaux, which is produced from grapes grown in a specific region in southwest France. More than 700 million bottles are produced in the region annually.
More than 10,000 cases of the 2016 Bordeaux vintage will be available across 32 B.C. stores, shipped from more than 200 chateaus. Prices range from $29 bottles of Château Saint Bernard, to $3,500 for Château Petrus.
