PRO-11 policeman commits suicide using his service pistol

COTABATO CITY: A Philippine National Police (PNP) major has committed suicide Friday using his service pistol, while inside a car in Bagumbayan municipality in the province of Sultan Kudarat.
The Bagumbayan PNP on Saturday identified the victim as Maj. Kristian Ace Sularte, assigned at the Police Regional Office-11 (PRO-11) in Davao City. He was found dead on the driver’s seat of his car, a silver Mitsubishi Mirage.
The police investigators found his service pistol beside him and recovered a spent bullet shell inside the vehicle, parked at his family’s yard in Purok Osmeña in Barangay Poblacion, Bagumbayan.
Responding probers from the Bagumbayan PNP and relatives of Sularte were convinced that he shot himself in the head using a handgun.
However, even so, investigators will still determine if there was foul play in the incident.
Neighbors heard a dull thud, before they discovered that Sularte had shot himself inside his tinted car, its window shields raised and doors closed.
Sularte was with PRO-12 covering Central Mindanao prior to the transfer of his assignment to PRO-11 in Davao City.
