The ability to harness the power of the sun to generate electricity without generating greenhouse gas emissions is one of the great magic tricks of our age. Even with magic, there are going to be leftovers, scraps, and secondhand products. The Solar Panel Art Series takes these outcasts, these used solar panels, and puts them in the hands of some of the most talented artists of our day.

After a successful premier in New York in November 2018 featuring internationally famous artists such as Felipe Pantone, Swoon, Okuda, and Zaria Forman in a sell-out auction, The Solar Panel Art Series opened the Transition Edition in April 2019 in Berlin with a grand exhibition at Hotel de Rome. The series is back with its second auction of 2019 called the Vision Art Edition, featuring renowned artists:
1Up Crew / Jasm One / Vincent Edmond Louis
Abraham Osorio / Boris Chiaradia / Leon Keer / Pixel Pancho / RAWS / The Krank
The creations that result are true works of art built up on a canvas that carries forward the powerful message of hope that solar power represents for our generation as we strive to decarbonize electricity generation. The Vision Art Edition and is being hosted by the Hotel Crans Ambassador in Switzerland. Each of the works will be displayed as the Vision Art Festival, a popup open-air museum in the mountains, with the works spread over the beautiful natural canvas, from 1,500-3,000 meters above sea level in the Valais Alps.

The Solar Panel Art Series uses the funds raised from the sale of the included works to support Olafur Eliasson’s Little Sun Foundation. The Little Sun Foundation was started and exists to put the power of low cost solar lights into the hands of teachers and school children living off the grid in Rwanda.

Putting solar-powered lights into the hands of these changemakers for the next generation removes the need to buy candles or kerosene to light the home along with the harmful emissions they produce in the home. Solar-powered lights let children study and read for more hours of the day with the power of a light that is safe and durable enough for their lifestyle.
